I agree. I'm sure many of us have been coming back to the site and checking our e-mails all day for any sign that the application is available.

It's like everyone is sitting around to see if the groundhog will come out.

Perhaps if we all chant real loud, slap our monitors three times (carefull now, they're probably LCD's now-a-days), and blow kisses up north...a spokesperson will come out from behind the curtain and say, "Give us 5 minutes, the show will go on shortly. Please be patient."

Instead, we're getting cramps from looking at the stage with baited breath, "Hello. Hellllooooo....

Are we gonna see product today?

I think it's worth noting that that press release was on PR Newswire, a service that anyone can join and send "press releases" to. I'm not suggesting that the content wasn't legitimate, but I wouldn't put too much stock in its timing.

Vegas 6: Released on a Monday.
Vegas 5: Released on a Monday.
Vegas 4: Hell, I dunno, I wasn't around then.

I've got a complete list of all the possible links based on every shred of evidence produced thus far. Should I post it?

BStro, the press release is also on Sony's site at http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/news/ShowRelease.asp?ReleaseID=642&CatID=

I quote, "Sony Media Software, a leading provider of professional video and audio editing software applications, announced today the immediate availability of the Vegas™+DVD Production Suite, a significant upgrade to its award-winning professional video, audio, and DVD production software solution. The suite includes Vegas 7 and DVD Architect™ 4 software, as well as a Dolby Digital® AC-3 multi-channel encoder for 5.1 surround output."

This press release is dated Thursday, September 07, 2006. So, does that make it false advertisement?

Just makes it another blunder to add to Sony's list. Oh well, the great anticipation has ended for me. I dont care if they release now or two weeks from now. No use in getting excited over it only to be let down. Ill check back around Vegas70a. Later Sony.

In the words of one our former Presidents - It depends on the definition of "immediate availability ". :)

I saw this is another thread:

"It seems that Sony has confirmed that Vegas will be released at IBC."

Cinescore was released on Thursday, May 25.

Well then maybe Sony should have put in their press release yesterday the exact date instead of saying immediately. Its all about perceptions and expectations that you set for your customers.

If you told a client that their video was available immediately and the customer goes to pick it up and its no where to be found, do you think your client would be pissed?

No, the one official press release will do fine, thanks. No need to rub it in. :)

Realistically the release of Vegas 7 was not gating anyone's productivity. No one, outside of the developers and the testers, knew the features Vegas 7 until a few days ago. To me Sony is under no obligation to tell us anything, except out of courtesy. The only real gripe is we have to wait to evaluate the software.

Sheesh....everyone is getting so impatient for the release...only to be followed by the dreaded whinning because this or that didn't get incorporated....is it ground hog day? didn't we go through this last year before/after the release of 6? :-)
Jonathan Neal wrote on 9/8/2006, 2:31 PM
ECB ... and the part where they said immediately on the 7th. :)

These are loving gripes though. I mean, I can't wait to upgrade to Vegas 6.5+DVD Architect 4!

We certainly did. Just like the year before with the release of Vegas 5 and the year before that with Vegas 4 :-)
