They are open source now and he even gives the code for whomever to use. Maybe somebody will make them useable in Vegas. I liked all of them... but I'm not sold on playing with his balls.

If you read the blog he goes on to say that the smokey one isn't in the download because he's using some kind of patented process but the rest of the effects are pretty amazing.

As for the invitation to meet him in NYC, I think I will pass.

I know him and his family and they're all very creative people with talents ranging from puppeteers to musicians to authors and more.
He's on his way to work in New Zealand as soon as his paperwork comes through.

Mike, what do you think is the possibility of these effects being ported for Vegas usage?

Anybody? The under water effect and the "move space" are neat effects that would be great to use within Vegas.

my guess is a no, as I'll bet it requires the ability to look at more than one frame at a time IE, the restriction within vegas that only allows access to one frame at a time would make this not possible, unless they did something like the Pro-Dad Stabilizer, which renders the file section out, and then accesses it independently of Vegas and then puts the stabilized footage back.

This definitely seems like a non-real time effect or something that would have to be done offline like deshaking. There would be no way to preview it other than rendering a small part ahead of time.

I found the link on reddit and saw his post awhile ago that lead to the NZ gig. Interesting story.
