Well..the All TempaCheer versions will make your whites whiter, your darks darker, and really pop the colors.

The Tide version just brings out the color.

Seriously, they're usually for cleaning up grain, noise, fringing, ringing. Vegas has most of what you need. Be prepped for long render times. They often soften images too, due to the way they work.

You got bad vid?

Well, Lord know I never shoot anything bad, but sometimes - there are things that could use a little cleaning from others or from the prelinger archives etc.... Perhaps a Tutorial on VASST on things that can be done INSIDE Vegas to help wouldn't be a bad idea to look into. Just a thought.

they can help your encoder work better and produce higher quality delivery ..... specally at lower bit rate ..

but the downside is as mentioned ...

most of the best filters for this are free -- better than some non free apps ..

DIAMANT is a high end app well known in this area (more for film work)

Discreet Cleaner 6 for the MAC was a flop. At one time Cleaner was the most popular media encoding tool. Ownershio of the product changed hands too frequently and updates were few and far between. And it was overpriced to boot. It did however do batch encoding very well.
Cleaner XL for the PC was completely rewritten but will not install unless Real Networks software is installed. That was a huge mistake on their part because a lot of people don't like Real software because of it's spyware components.
You would think Discreet would have put Real Networks software on the disc, but they didn't. You have to download it, accept Real's spyware terms. Then you can install Cleaner's expensive software. There are cheaper encoding alternatives available as we all know. You don't need Cleaner.
