Western Digital has a new 640GB drive using only two platters. Newegg currently has it for $119.99 with free shipping.

There are positive reviews at AnandTech and The Tech Report.

Western Digital plans to increase the capacity of these drives by simply increasing the number of 320 GB platters. 1T = 960GB.

I was looking at that drive on Friday at Newegg. I need to add a second drive to my new system. Right now I have a 500gig WD but I wish I had this one as my system drive.
