OT: What do you think of this?

Jessariah67 wrote on 12/9/2003, 8:55 PM
We just finished this promo for a new venture & I wanted to share it with you all. Used nothing but Vegas & PhotoShop (outside of some stock video clips and a bit of magic from Digital Juice).

"Image Is Everything" (wmv, 256kbps)

Let me know what you think.

Overall, I like it. I think the audio was a bit overpowering, a little too much in your face .I would tone it down just a little. I like the tag lines relating to you not chasing the competition, have them chasing you. In fact it would drive that home a little stronger.

Wow.... looking forward to the day I can make something look as good as that! Well done.

J - Wooooooo ! Smashing . .LOVED the music - pacy and nicely balanced with the narration.

. . . .erm. . not sure what exactly is being sold . . .but I suppose this is part of an excercise or part of your corporate image - yeah?

Loved it- Ho, loved the talking head in the newspaper!

I'd have liked to have worked with you on this. I've got further ideas and ways to make it more pacy and using that pace to be even more relevant.

Really looks great. Loads rapidly on my DSL and plays back beautifully. I like the pace -- very up, nice beat edits, enough time to savor each image as it flashes on screen.

I'm just wondering how you got a copyright date of 2004.

I never got my flux capacitor to work for me....congrats on getting yours running.

I agree with the above comments.

The nice thing about your link (and others) is that it opened up right away to my WMP (in a new window). I did not have to click on another link or anything!

Plus, as another user said, the clip played right away with my broadband connection... no buffering or downloading...it just started playing.

Nice job, and how can I show my videos the way you do? Do you pay a lot for an ISP? I'm looking to have a site like yours to share some vidoes....can you give me details?

Thanks.

Jon,

I literally convert to wmv in Vegas (I use a "tweaked" version of the 256k template) and upload the file. That's it. Unfortunately, my particular host/server (www.addr.com) doesn't have whatever you "need" to tell Netscape that it's a media file (if you click on the link in Netscape, it opens gibberish in the browser...), but it is quite affordable -- 500MB, email, CGI, etc. for $15/mo.

I used to worry about creating streaming pointer files, etc., but it doesn't really seem necessary anymore...

Liked it very much--I would do something about the type style---just doesn't meld with the high tech images---to plain jane.

Very nicely done.

If I may ask, got any info on the cam crane that was in one of the shots ? Who makes it, how much ? Got a link ? Looked pretty interesting.

I like it a lot. I really like the Matrix trails at the beginning, did you use 3D software for that?

Two things that could be tweaked are in the opening images the grey mask that makes up the body of the computer looks flat. Perhaps you could round the corners or give it a metallic texture Also the computer during the "Product Features and Demonstrations", something about the angle is off to me. It's ok, if you focus on the video on the computer, but if you focus on the whole frame it looks a bit fake.

Ray,

The crane is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. It has a third arm to work it remotely, or you can lose the arm and work it as a normal crane. You sacrifice the 1:1 pulley for the extra arm, but I think it makes it much more flexible to use. You can check it out at DVMoves.com. It'll set you back $900 after shipping & weights, but it's a great crane.

I agree that the interface is a bit flat. Gets the point across, but could be more realistic. We'll probably address that when we hit it again...

Sorry it's taken me so long to thank you for your reply, but ... thank you for your reply. That thing looks pretty amazing and has gone on my wishlist. I got the one Glidcam make, and though a deal at the time it dosnt have the flexibility I would like it to.

In the promo theyre using an XL1 which is the same as mine, I wonder how they stay in focus. I do have the little plug in remote but the cord is only about a foot long ? Dont think thats gonna make it all the way back. Maybe they were just using a wide angle. Curious.

Thanks again, great stuff.
