OT: What's better than a Sony DCR-TRV103?

That's the camera I've been using.... The DCR-TRV103 and it's pretty much perfect for what I need it for.

I use it for filming, and I use the firewire port to transfer to my hard drive for editing. Also I think it has pass-through but I haven't had the chance to use it yet.

The only problem is that it's not mine....it's my sister's and when she has her baby in June I can bet that she's going to want it back leaving me camera-less.

So I'm asking you what I should do....

Should I buy HER a good camera with the minimal features she needs to take home videos and stuff. OR should I buy myself a new camera. Obviously if I buy myself a new camera....i want to spend a little more and get something even better than what I have.

So here's what I need. I like the Sonys so I'll stick with them.

I would prefer Digital 8 to MiniDV because I have alot of Digital 8 tapes that still need to be put on DVDs. I also want something with the RCA inputs but it seems like newer camera don't have those unless i'm missing something.

ALSO....i'm planning to start filming for a horror related cable access show in about a month or two. So I need to keep that in mind. Maybe something good in low light.

What I need:
Digital 8
Pass-through
something clearly better than the TRV103
in the 400-600 price range
some decent digital effects but these are not important
optical zoom
good in low light

I'm not afraid of a camera with some bulk to it. I can't stand all these new cameras that can fit in your pocket. I understand it's all about technology....but i'd rather something with some weight to it.

and anything else you might suggest.

thanks alot people.
