OT What's in a name?

Just stumbled on the fact that Vegas means Meadows ( in Spanish ) - not such a bad place to edit audio and video.

But, the plot thickens .... Vegas was settled by the Mormons in 1855, and there they built a large ADOBE!!

Interesting info. You forgot to mention that the Excalibur was built in 1990.

And lets not forget that Vegas is in Nevada where Prostitution is legal. You know - selling ones self for money.

Vegas is also known for being very cheesy with a lot of over the top bloated shows at oft times inflated prices.

Yeah, of course, everyone knows the usual connotations and associations of LAS Vegas - it was precisely as a comparison with this "stereotype" that I found the original meaning interesting.
