Hey all,

Good morning from Canada's West Coast. Just curious if anyone has any interesting projects lined up this weekend. I like hearing what others are up to.

Next weekend's a long weekend so I'm gonna try to line up some models for some more Stonefield Videos...fingers crossed.

How about you guys out there ? Weddings ? Editing ? Music Videos ?

What's up ....

Where in Canada? I'm planning a vacation to Victoria, Vancouver and Seattle later this year.

Well, it doesn't count for the weekend, but I'm hoping to shoot a bit for the VASST contest on Monday night - assuming my talent doesn't drop out. I'll be one of the late comers to that contest with any luck.

Well... we just wrapped shooting for a little documentary about the Miami Performing Arts Center bringing in some professional circus arts performers for five weeks to teach and train some under privileged kids. Today was their performance, and they put on an excellent show!

Now, on Monday, begins the arduous, but fulfilling, task of editing it all together.

I'm gonna have some fun helping Hawaii Media Productions shoot for live display on two big screens at the Waikiki Shell tonight. Over a dozen local Hawaiian bands are performing their hits promoting a DVD that was just released. We'll have 3 cameras (including my PD-170). Should be a big bash.
Aloha,
Randy

Update: WOW! What a fun gig. The Shell was full (3,000-4,000) of dancing and screaming fans while the big name local artists perfomed for 5 hours. We ended up using 3 cam's (a DVX-100A, XL1s, and PD-170), two on tripod and the -170 as a handheld. All three were in the empty orchestra pit which spanned the width of the shell for most of the show except for one camera that was taken out into the crowd for about 45 minutes to get some off screen footage for the local TV station. We had two big screens going and switched between cameras on the fly. It turned out pretty well for the most part and it appears we landed the the job for the rest of the year. This was our first gig of this type and we learned a tremendous amount which is about all the pay we will get after expenses ;-). Should be much more lucrative for the future gigs as this was more a test to see what we can do. We are jazzed for sure.

Stonefield - when are you gonna offer up some tutorials on how you create your magic? I really enjoy watching your vids. Great effects and pretty girls - *grin*.

What places do you recommend to check out?

Also I keep looking at the Maps and having this delusion that I can take a day trip to the Canadian Rockies. Am I nuts?

Just got home from a little school talent show...for about 3000 people. An educational foundation sponsors it each year. Now in its 11th year and held at a local university arena, it featured 20 acts from various schools who auditioned for the opportunity to be in the show. I pre-record (multitrack) all 20 acts weeks ahead, then master the performances to CD. There are no mics on stage the night of the show. We shot the show (which features full concert lighting and sound) with three cameras. Honestly, we barely break even on the production, but it's our contribution to a great organization that does a lot for our school system and community. You can't buy the kind of good will we created tonight.

I just shot a video at Paris Hilton's club in Orlando, totally unexpected/last-minute. Had unlimited access to the entire place, including Paris’s ultra-exclusive no-one-else-allowed-in-there-except-her VIP lounge. Co-owner Fred Khalilian gave us the $50.00 tour, and turned out not to be a bad guy after all. Kind of strange having billionaires and security people moving out of the way for us, while common folk patrons showed off for the camera, doing anything possible for 2 1/2 seconds of fame. (Not quite as crazy as some Daytona Beach spring break footage which quietly resides on my hard drive, but still inappropriate for a public broadcast) Ended up with 15 drunken hotties in a stretch limousine, one of whom gave the producer one of those “Rejection-Hotline.com” phone numbers and a fake address for a nonexistent hotel. Aside from all that, I'm trying to keep from being homeless so I don't have to do the editing under a bridge.
