OT: When is a release required?

Hey all. We're getting ready to do an open air shoot at a park, and I'm wondering (all permits assumed in hand) when someone "strolling by" needs to sign a release. This wouldn't be BG bodies in public, etc., but people walking in front of our actors.

Thanks for any insight.

This was discussed in more detail at some point - do a search for things like "release forms" or "actor release form" , "talent release form" .

In general if they are identifiable they need to sign a release form. You say this wouldn't be shots of people in the background so it sounds like you need to get a signed release.

PS - just thought - exception to this would be something like a parade where the participants are out in the public to be seen, and more than likely, photographed. Not the same as me going to the park for a walk where I do *not* expect to be filmed/photographed.
