VX2100 because you said "concerts" and that often involves low light. The others aren't quite as good in low light. Around $2300.

I have a Sony DSR-250 for sale. I bought it about 2 years ago and only
used it about 6 times! It comes bundled with all the toys!

You can view it at http://www.videolistings.ca/camera.htm

DVX 100a without a doubt.
You'll not regret it.

How much better is the VX2100 than the DVX100A in low light - I've used the DVX's in low light - and it's alright (as long as you don't go 24P or 30P - that seems to add a LOT of blue noise to the image - Wierd - Anyone here notice that?). But it can handle 3 lux and the VX2100 can handle 1lux (supposedly - but that's with plenty of noise for sure - anyone know where to find, or know themselves, just what the lux rating is for each one with no gain applied. (blech - gain, it's just a great way to wreck a good image :-)

Here's a review about a year old of a VX2000 versus the DVX100. The VX2100 is slightly more sensitive than the VX2000.

Some of the replies at the bottom of the review state that this wasn't a fair test. I haven't seen any other direct comparisons, though.

They probably contested because they're perfect little camera was not the winner ;)

I just did a shoot for a local TV show at Paris Hiltons club in Orlando. Had to use available light only, which ranged from pink to blue, and follow the host and the owner around through some very dark areas.
Sony VX2100 was pushed to the limits on this one. I've worked side by side with other cams, they're all fine with most normal stage lighting, but clubs are not normal stage lighting. Most of what I do is club events with available light, so the 2100 is more or less where I have to be.

None of them. Spend a few dollars more and get the Z1. Better than the FX1 but get that if it's all you can afford. Who wants to watch a concert in 4:3, think about this, even if you don't want to get into HDV for a few years you should be already into 16:9 by now.
