OT Which Would You Buy???

I realize it will depend to some degree upon what I want to do but... if you had to choose between Boris Red, Discreet Combustion, and Adobe After Effects, which would you choose and why?

I've been to all the Websites and read the material, I just know there are A LOT of knowledgeable people in this forum and I value your opinions.

Keep in mind that I will be learning something new and don't necessarily have any particular function in mind - I'm just looking to expand my knowledge/skillset - that and my boss said he'd pick up the tab cause I did so well on our last project :)

Thank you very much for your input.

Red, IMO. Much of what AE does can already be done in Vegas, excepting 3D and Red gives you that. Combustion is a GREAT tool, serious learning curve. Course, all 3 apps have that.

Thank you for your input Spot... I realize it was a rather open-ended question but I appreciate your thoughts

I thought AE was a very capable app for graphics, image. Like an "animated" Photoshop..!

Take a deep breath,, relax..Vegas cant do everything it does,,,,, but it does quite a bit.
Adobe had tutorial cd that gave good examples of some of the capabilities of aftereffects.
Also you now have a load of plugs available to you.

I'd personly buy Red for a couple reasons.

1) I've been working with the demo and find it easy to use.
2) it intergrates with Vegas (but found it to be 3x faster sometimes when not used from within vegas)
3) i'd rather buy from someone else then Adobe. I don't like them (it's just me). I'd rather buy from Boris (infact i might soon if i get my way. :) )
