OT-Why does the cursor shudder?

When QT movies are playing--even in another window--what makes the cursor shudder in that or other windows/applications? Just curious.

I don't have the curser shutter, but I would figure it's susposed to represent Bill Gates shuddering that QT is more populat then his WMV stuff. :)
