OT: Would this be considered a good deal?

In the market range of $3,200(ish)...would this be a good candidate for my money in terms of build quality, features, and image quality? I know that new innovations are coming out at record pace anymore, so I was just curious.

compared to the Panasonic HMC150, Sony FX1000, or XHA1s of today.

What are you going to shoot? Studio, stage, sports, interviews, the kids, ...?

What's your delivery format? Web video, DVD, BD, Broadcast TV, ...?

Please forgive me for being so vague.

Primarily weddings, and then for personal use it will be action shooting. Sports type stuff.

Delivery formats would be web video and either HD on DVD or BD for clients. The whole tape vs. solid state issue doesn't matter to me. I've used both successfully.

Get a camera that shoots progressive then you will never have to deal with interlacing issues/silliness.
