This is a double hooray for me - the only thing Vegas does not do is VSTi/VST/MIDI, and as a long time user of Cubase SX...Steinberg is out of the Pinnacle "family".
WTF??
they only just bought it.
LOL typical Pinnacle though.. as for Yamaha buying it, that wouldnt surprise me one bit.
hmm..
as for Acid 5, its a kick ass ssytem with VSTi support jsut as solid as cubase.. it also have video implementations, so it wouldnt surprise me if Vegas 6 has some of these options too.. it also has a Recycle like chopping tool (i use my RS7000 for that though) but in al , its a brilliant piece of work i have to admit.. .
> By the way, anybody use ACID to do their sound for picture? How is the MIDI/VST implementation?
The MIDI/VSTi implementation in ACID is solid yet minimal. You can record, but there is no punch-in/punch-out, pre-roll, etc. It’s fine for recording MIDI loops. If you want to record a longer piece where you may want to go back and fix a measure here or there, you would be better off using Cubase or SONAR or even Tracktion (which you can get for free this month).
Since ACID Pro 5.0 is now a ReWire client, you can easily sync it with other more powerful MIDI sequencers so MIDI support in ACID is not as critical as it once was. I use it a lot so it’s definitely workable. I tend to record my MIDI in small looped sections so ACID works very well for my personal workflow.
