OT: Z1 compared to Beta SP

So here's the question. HD is not going to be the most important thing to me about the Z1, I'm banking on it being the best bang for my $$$. What I do want to know is how the quality of Video is in comparison to Beta SP?

Better? Worse? equal?

I plan on using downres'd HD to SD. for now at least.

Anyway, Just curious as to the quality comparison. thanks

I've worked with a little SP, the downsampled images from the Z1 will blow SP out of the water. Even a PD170 looks better. And you don't need a huge amount of gear to get decent video out of it. SP suffers from things like dropouts, horrible stuff. Plus of course no 16:9 on a SP camera.

Can't comment about D600, only got an old 30 I think it is.
But every bit of SP I've transferred looks soft and lots of dropouts.
Pretty much can't even give anything SP away in this country.
