Interesting naming strategies: first came the H4 (I love mine, it felt like I had a recording studio in my shirt pocket), then the H2 (a smaller version with surround-sound capabilities), then the H4N (for "new" or "next"?), and now the H1 (a wee tiny whip of a thing with all the power of a Paul Bunyon). I wonder if this progression was part of their original vision or an ad hoc development? And (just dreaming) will there be an H3 -- or an H3D that does something like full-field recording (top and bottom, left and right, front and back)?
Anybody heard any more on the H1 ?? B&H has been showing it and indicating it would be available in July (I am on the list to be notified when they show up too). I just noticed they have updated their site to now indicate AUGUST !!
it says "estimated" is august. 7/30 is a friday, it's safe to assume they wouldn't get any in on saturday or sunday, so monday the 2nd would be the day they get it.
Interesting that while B&H has changed their date from July to August, Amazon's page says "This item will be released on July 21, 2010." B&H had the same info as everybody else, I was just wondering why they had changed the date they were showing - thought maybe there were some production problems or something. I guess we'll see when they really show up on the "virtual shelves" :-) Sure could have used one last week when I had to take lots of pix for a friend's dad and uncle military memorial services (I was shooting stills, but the bugle, piping etc would have been great for the slideshow I put together for them).
The H1 is very promising and has great value at its price. I have a H4n. Not to change the subject, but does any one have a recommendation on a "holster" or something that will allow you to strap the H4n around your waist?
"July 31st is a Saturday - B&H doesn't work on Saturdays" -- while a true statement, B&H has had access to the same information as the rest of us and they had "July" on their web page up until very recently. Since they changed it, I was wondering if they knew something we had not heard yet. I guess we will find out when they actually have them :-)
I noticed this morning that Amazon had updated their web page for the H1 to indicate it would now be available August 20th (they had been showing July 21).
