In regards to RT firewire output, if your system is not up to par you get lower frame rate, thus for mastering purposes you still need to render. And even if your system is up to par, you will not know when VV will choke, so in the end you might as well render. Plus VV is slower in rendering compared to other XDV and MSP [have not compared to PRemiere 6.5 yet] using the same type of FX." -Jdisilverio
