I’m irritated so bear with me. I had the Dell Bundle. That’s enough to irritate anyone. I now have VF 1.0 and Studio 8.
I did a little capture test (about 15 seconds) and I believe I can capture analog with my Canopus ADVC-100. I have to admit, I’m still not sure of the 6 switches on the bottom, but I think I have it correct (If anyone can share some info on that, that would be great too). O.K. I’m good so far. Next thing.
I wanted to burn to SVCD’s. I know I can do that, but if I want to burn to a VHS tape, I’m doing something wrong. This is what I do.
In VF 1.0:
-grab a rendered avi file.
-Open the capturing section of VF
-Open my file
-click play to test the file. (Looks great on the viewer)
-hit “record” on my vcr and click “Print to tape”
and that’s where I’m unsure. The view screen go’s blank with the text saying “printing to tape.” I go to watch the tape and it’s blank.
What did I do wrong?
In Studio 8:
-go to “make movie”
-click the window that shows you want to burn to tape
-pick my file
-it renders
-then it’ll ask me to click the “play” button and transfer should start.
-I hit the record button on my vcr and hit the “play” button on Studio 8.
Nothing. Studio 8 will play because I can hear the audio, but nothing is recorded.
I’ve unplugged the RCA’s on the front of the Canopus. All the connections are correct. I’m not sure about the 6 toggle switches on the bottom of the Canopus (one asked me if I should be in usa or japan. I assume USA since I got Dell here in states. I’m in San Francisco area).
I’ve also changed the Canopus to “Digital in.” The only thing I’m questioning is that Kcarroll mentioned that DELL’s 1394 might be the issue. I hope he’s wrong because I don’t want to buy more computer stuff. I already forked out for the miracle Canopus. Someone save me. I’m so sad. I bought the idiot proof Canopus and I still can't use it correctly. Ugh!
