I made a video in Movie Studio 17 using vertical phone footage (1080x1920). It looks good in Movie Studio and the properties section knows that it's 1080x1920, but everytime I go to "make movie" it wants to output it horizontally as 1920x1080. How do I switch this to vertical output?
Unless you have the Platinum version in which you can customize templates I think it is not possible in the plain version VMS 17
I do have Platinum. I want to save it as an mp4 I think to post as an Instagram reel. I don't even know which format to select. I tried Sony AVC/MVC and customized Internet 1920x1080-30p. I chose to "customize template" and changed the frame size from 1920x1080 to 1080x1920, but I get a message that says "An error occurred while creating the media file such_and_such.mp4. An invalid argument was specified."
It is possible, I just did it, but with Sony AVC I also get an error message.
When I use Magix AVC and customize the template it renders well as a verical video with the following MediaInfo.
My advice is not to use the very old Sony AVC codec as rendertemplate
