Over Lay Render file Type

I have 3 overlays. I want to render them down to one track for continued use in a project. I need them in one track because they will all have to be re sized and re positioned, in proportion together. When rendering to one track which file type should be chosen? Should I just consider what my final rendering will be and use that, such as mp4? Or am I going about this the wrong way? Thanks

You need a format that can handle alpha channel. For example, uncompressed AVI will handle alpha channel. Just go into the custom settings and check the box to include alpha channel. Remember that uncompressed AVI files are HUGE, though.
