overlay time & date on HDV - one solution

Is there any way in Vegas to overlay the recorded time & date on the video frame, using the subcode data stored in the HDV file?

For a while I assumed that there was no program to do this. Today I discovered there is: the "HDVInfo" plugin for Avisynth. Here's a bit more info and example frame: HDV time-date

The Avisynth solution is a bit clumsy to use because you have to run a separate program to generate an index file, and then run the AVS script, for each separate HDV file. It would be great to have this capability incorporated into Vegas. Or has it already been and I just don't know how to access it?

This has been asked for dozens of times for as long as I can remember. Obviously, it ain't gonna happen.

Here are links to one previous discussions winch includes, I think, some workarounds:

A very, very nice Date/Time stamper for DV files

[Edit] Here's another thread that perhaps might be even more useful:

Subtitling Data Code from MiniDV

Thanks for those links- since I got my FX1 cameras I haven't used DV that much. I had been looking for the HDV equivalent to the DV workarounds, and until finding the HDVinfo program, I assumed there was no solution anywhere.

I know people have been asking forever for this, and I still don't get why Vegas doesn't offer it. It's obviously possible; there's freeware that does it.

Changing the subject slightly, I saw your post asking about writing m2t files back to tape over on HDVInfo and posted the same question on this board. I'll bet there is a scripting solution eventually.
