Yes to P n P and NO to Hollywood FX, at least NOT as a plug-in.

Thanx for the response. Picture in picture in both VV4 and VideoFactory or just Vegas?

Yes you can do picture in picture in both Vegas and VideoFactory.

I use the Hollywood FX Pro that I got with Pinnacle Studio 7 all the time with Vegas and VideoFactory as a stand-alone program. Unlike Studio, both Vegas and VideoFactory will allow you to just render a small part of the video called a loop region. What I do is render just the area that I want to use the Hollywood FX on and then import that AVI file into Studio. I then apply the HFX to the AVI(s) and render that back out to another AVI. Finally I drop this new AVI on the timeline where I want the HFX. It’s not as easy as having HFX as a plug-in but it gets the job done just the same.

This is no different than using another program like Ulead Cool 3D Studio or particleIllusion SE, etc. I just treat Studio with Hollywood FX like any other FX processing program.

Go to the Tips, Tricks, and Scripts Newsletter Homepage and read issue #2. It discusses how to create a PIP.

I used to use Studio7 and Hollywood FX, but am now a total Vegas convert - PinP is just so easy in Vegas, I rarely use Studio any more!

Oh yea. I agree PIP in Vegas is much easier. I was just talking about the other 3D effects you can do in HFX. I would never do PIP in HFX after using Vegas.

Oh, sorry John, you are dead right - I was a bit quick on the draw!

Thanx All for responses. Today I ordered VV4+DVD. One reason why I went with Studio was a clean, easy interface and that I hoped to be able to get a project out quickly. I hope a steep learning curve won't put off a completed project too long!
