PAL DVD

I work in a West Coast theme park, in the Entertainment Department. I run a small audio studio. We have just branched out to video. I already owned Vegas Audio, so I upgraded to Vegas Video 3.0.

Our parent company has 3 other parks in England and Europe. We are the only park in the company doing in-house production.

I have been asked to produce some of our promo and show material in the PAL[DVD]format. I am new to all of this, so I am doing preliminary research.

What DVD burner does anyone suggest that has the capability to burn NTSC and PAL ?
We are currently putting together our wish list for a new computer. Our current computer works well, but is inadequate for video work. Any ideas there would be greatly appreciated as well.

I read the posts for the "ultiamte video computer", and that has been helpful. Thanks for any input!

It's not the burner, Paul, it's the encoder that determines the format. You can select this from within Vegas before you render the timeline.

To create the actual DVD try something like Ulead's DVD MovieFactory, which is very easy to use and probably all you need unless you have some very esoteric requirements.

As for 'ultimate computer', whatever you choose make sure it has two hard drives, and the biggest is reserved for your video editing. Do not put the operating system/swap file on this disk.

Pete,

Thanks for your reply. I am learning fast here. Have to. I work at Legoland California. We are the only park in the LEGO company that has any kind of in-house productions, so I am getting all kinds of questions. I very much appreciate your feedback.
I am about to purchase a DVD burner, on a very tight budget. So, accurate information is my best friend. Thanks again.

If your DVD is for a Kiosk type of application, make sure you get software/hardware that has a repeat function. I.E. When finished, the DVD automatically starts again.

I can't tell you which brand, but I do know that some have repeat and some don't.
