PAL minidv tape in NTSC Camcorder?

I have been asked if I can transfer a PAL minidv tape to DVD. I have NTSC minidv machines, will the PAL tape play in the NTSC camcorder? If so, I should be able to convert to NTSC in vegas and burn a DVD, correct?

It might, or not. We've found some of the PAL kit will play NTSC DV tapes out the analogue A/V outputs but will not do so over firewire. Simply try it. If it fails a DSR-11 will play both PAL and NTSC, flick the little slider switch on the back with a pen.

I have used an NTSC PD170 to do it via firewire. Using the Sony capture program, disable DV control and capture the tape. It will not work if DV control is enabled. I have read that other Sony cameras will do it too.

I wonder if the Panasonic AG-DVX100 will work. I have access to one, but don't want to tell the prospective client that I can do it if it will not work. I may just tell him that I can try, but not promise anything.
