PAL Wide Screen from a Canon XM2 or GL2?

Will somebody please put me out of my misery - tell me how to setup Vegas for Widescreen editing using the PAL XM2 or failing that the GL2. The XM2 can does shoot a 16:9 format - not the true 16:9 chip, but 16:9.

I'm confused between the widescreen project setups, the Previewing and the general process.

Capture the footage using Sony Vidcapture application. It will automatically switch to 16:9 mode for material recorded with the XM2 in that mode.
Now edit your footage using the PAL DV Widescreen template for the project settings.
Finally render your film using the DVD PAL template, but change aspect ratio on the video tab to 16:9.
Pretty straightforward, isn't it ;-) ?

Got that MArtin - unfortunately the Canon doesn't give a correct Frame in 16:9 mode. I need to have a 16:9 monitor.

And yes, I've got it running Fab! - I used my wide angle adaptor and have very straight and clear lines on each edge of the screen.

.. . now for a 16:9 on-camera monitor, I guess.
