Pan AG-CX350 mov file won't load in VP15 or 16

red-diamond wrote on 7/30/2019, 8:29 PM

I having issues with an MOV file from my Pan AG-CX350. The original VP15 project with four cams is an hour long with four cameras, two with MP4 files and one with MOV from a Ninja and the other the CX350. VP15 took them all in. Later, when I reopened the files were all gone. Thought I made a mistake, so I redid the timeline, but then it crashed. I tried re-creating the project in VP16 but to no avail. It will no longer load nor play in any editor I have but IT WILL PLAY IN Media Player Classic. I have tried transcoding with Premier Pro, After Effects, Adobe Media Encoder, MPEG Streamclip, and Resolve 12.5 to no avail.

The file is 100mbps, mov with HLG.

It still plays in Media Player Classic. I can record it off of Camtasia but that would be heresy, however I do need that cam angle.....

Does 16 give an error when you try to import it?

No, fr0sty, the first couple of times it crashed I just ignored the Crash Report details. Now it won't load at all from the import screen and Windows' little circle just spins and spins. I can't get the file to load in Vegas now and I have to manually crash it via Task Manager to get it to stop.

Hmm... maybe import assist from happy otter scripts (www.tools4vegas.com, in a free beta right now) can help get it in. Sounds like a corrupt file.

It appears there is a glitch with So4Reader.dll. I've seen other posts about it. Any suggestions while I look around?

Yeah, you can disable it by holding shift while clicking preferences, go to the "internal" tab, search for so4, set line 2 to false (if I remember right), there's detailed instructions on this forum). However, this may break compatibility with some formats. Worth a shot, you can at least get it encoded to an intermediate format if you can get it to import, then re-enable so4 if it broke compatibility elsewhere.

I don't have time to figure it out. I U&I'd Vegas 16. kept the So4 script at default (TRUE), loaded the MOV file into VP16, rendered it to 16mb/s m2ts and am finally editing. I suspect that VP15 is corrupted but while in the middle of two projects, I'm too superstitious to U&I now. Thanks for your assistance. I nave learned something new.
