Instead of "right-clicking" on the picture, try clicking on the [FX] mark in the picture. See if that makes a difference. If you don't see the [FX] mark, stretch the picture out a bit and it will show up.

I haven't looked at this so I've no idea what's wrong, but...if something got set/unset one thing that may fix it is to open the program while holding down ctrl+shift. This will reset everything to the original defaults. Warning: this will reset everything -- including your carefully choosen preferences -- but it's no worse than uninstall/reinstall would be.

You can also try a repair install rather than uninstall/reinstall.

It's Ctrl + Shift while starting up, not Ctrl + Alt.

ctrl+shift will not work either

Have you tried the repair utility?

Just put your CD back in your drive and choose "install." When the setup program senses that you have MS3 already installed, it will automatically run a repair utility program. Works great for fixes minor bugs that creep in from "wear and tear" on the program.

Otherwise, try uninstalling your program, run RegCleaner to clean off your registry and install the program again. All of this should have no effect on your works in progress.

This is a total guess, but i think possibly you've moved the widow down below the task bar at the bottom of the screen. Right-mouse-button click and choose "Video Event Pan/Crop" just to make sure it's the active window. The "Screenblast Movie Studio" title bar should now be grey instead of blue, right? (Or whatever colors you may have set your desktop to.) Now, without clicking anything, hold down the Alt key and press the space bar. A small menu should pop up that says Restore, Move, Size, Minimize ..... type M for move. Now press the up arrow key and you may see a dashed rectangle begin to move up the screen. Once you've got part of it visible, you can then use your mouse to move it the rest of the way.

Hope this helps!

By the way, when you were trying Ctrl + Shift while starting up, were you doing that while launching Movie Studio? It occurs to me that by "starting up", you may have thought we meant Windows. This function is used by closing down Movie Studio completely (Windows still running though), then hold down Ctrl + Shift while launching Movie Studio again. This should reset everything back to normal.

and the pan and crop popped up really big instead of a small window. so what do you think i did and how do i prevent this from happening again?

thank you for all you time and help

I think probably you move the Pan/Crop window out of the way to see what's on the timeline, and sometimes you must accidentally move it too far. It's easy to do since you can move it down as far as the task bar and when you let go the task bar comes forward to cover it.

I also notice you're running your screen at 800x600 resolution. If at all possible, you might want to consider going to 1024x768 instead. Then you'll have a lot more room on the screen and won't have to shift stuff around as much.
