Does anyone know of a way to hold on the "end" of an animated "pan"? The ideal way would be to capture a still frame of that ending frame and then add it as still but I haven't figured a way to capture a still frame from that animated "pan".

You can split the event at the hold point, then set the begin and end settings for the "held" part to both match the end point of the panned section.
Another option is to move the cursor to the point where you want to stop panning, save a still frame snapshot to a still image file, then import this file at that point on the timeline.
I did not consider the "split" method but I did the still frame thing. And since
I have spent hours trying to find the answer, I am just going to come right out and ask you, "How do you capture a still frame?" I am long passed the point of feeling ashamed to ask a simple question like that!!!

Set the Preview to Best. On the top edge of the Video or Preview window pane, there is a little "Floppy Disk" icon. Click on this and your save image & directory dialogue will kick in. This will save THAT which is presently being displayed in the Preview window to disk - and away you go! - Next to the Floppy icon is the WIndows generic "Copy" icon. This you use to copy that which is present in the Preview to an external Graphics package for further manipulation and bringing back into VF.
If you don't ask - you don't get! - If you don't get . . . . you don't move on! I started with VF - now with Veags4. I couldn't have done any of this without the amazing help from the guys 'n gals here on this Forum AND our SoFo techies. I've asked loads of questions here sometimes I've even repeated them! Do a search for my user name on this Forum - So Kent no problemos!
Thanks again for the help. I don't know how I would have found that. It may be in the HELP but not readily available. AND forget the printed material. I will have to agree with many other posters regarding this forum. Like so many others, I went through Studio 7/8 to get here but the Studio forums are nothing but complaints where as this forum gets answer to creative questions . With Studio, I had to put my computer through a routine of eliminating other programs etc before it would work. But none of that here. I am really looking forward to the new version of VF.
Thanks, Kent
I can't seem to find how to set my preview window to "best". The closest I can find is to right-click in the preview window and choose "display at project size." This seems to help, but the image is still not crystal clear.
What exact menu choices, etc. do you use to set preview to "best"?
I'm using VideoFactory 2.0c, if that matters. (Is setting preview to "best" a Vegas option?)
I can't answer your question even though I noticed that comment. My preview window is fine so I did not spend any time on it.
You might consider reposting that question as a "new" topic. I 'll bet you will get an answer quicker.

I can tell you how to set your preview to Best Quality but first I have to warn you that this is an undocumented feature, use at your own risk, don’t try this at home, your mileage may vary, void where prohibited by law, you can lead a horse to water... (no, wait... that one doesn’t apply here.) OK, don’t say I didn’t warn you. ;-)
Pull down the Options menu and hold the Shift key before you select the Preferences menu item. You will now see a new tab in the preferences dialog labeled Internal. Select the Internal tab. Here is where you could do a lot of damage. At the bottom of the dialog is an entry field labeled Show only prefs containing: This is a search filter for the long list. Type the letters adv in the entry field and the top item in the list should now be Show Advanced Features with a Value of FALSE. Type in the word TRUE in the Value field and press the OK button to dismiss the dialog. Now Exit VideoFactory and start it up again.
You should now have a new dropdown list over your video preview window (next to the floppy disk icon) that says Preview Quality. You can use this to change your preview quality to Best Quality. Why did SoFo hide this option in the first place? Beats me, it makes no sense at all. Especially since there is no other way I know of to take a high quality snapshot without it.
OK, now. This is a bit like drugs. You give ‘em a little and they come back for more. So I know the next question will be. “Hey, what else can I set in this dialog?”. The things I’ve found helpful are the following:
Show Advanced Features which turns on the preview quality. Show Trimmer which adds a trimmer to cut your media before you place it on the timeline (like so many other NLE’s have) Show Speed Control which adds a Rate control like a jog shuttle so you can play slowly or quickly through the timeline forward or backward.
I would not change anything else in this dialog unless you know what you are doing. Many of these values can be changed by the other preference dialogs. If you mess up really bad, there is a way to reset VideoFactory back to its defaults but I forget that it is. (perhaps someone else remembers). Be careful, have fun, don’t forget to call home if you’re going to be late. ;-)
