"Spot the Diff?"

No. Checked V8 Vs V9. Values 8 to 64 as per usual. Grid looks the same. Seems to function the same. Brain a bit fried at the moment, might need more clues.

Thanks Bob. Mine WAS showing uneven "missing" spread of DOTS. Now it's back to normal. Nothing wrong with your brain . . . but that's coming from me!

Cheers

I can't say that i've ever paid attention to the grid. I either set movement to free, or type in the values i want for size and positioning. It's doubtful the grid has ever just happened to match up with what i wanted.

Would the ability to offset the grid make it more functional?

I agree with Kelly on this.
I've never used the grid.
I adjust things based on what I see on my preview monitor (using the keyboard arrows for fine adjustments) or enter values.

Offsetting is an interesting idea, but generally it's the size that never matches what i'm doing at the moment. I'd have to enter a custom size for almost every application. If i'm doing that, it's just as easy to enter specific x/y/height/width values anyway.
