I have some still shot that I have included in my movies. I use a different softwar for the stills. I am using Vegas MS 4.0. Is there a way I can pan in and out of stills, or the digital video?
Use animation with panning and cropping
The Begin and End buttons on the Pan/Crop tab allow you to animate panning and cropping to give the illusion of motion.
Applying animation
If you wanted to zoom in to an event, you could do the following:
1. Click above the event on the timeline so the cursor is positioned on the event you want to work with; it will show in the preview screen.
2. Click the Event FX button on the video event and click the Pan/Crop tab.
3. If the clip does not fill the preview screen to your satisfaction right click on the image in the Pan/Crop window and a short menu will display. Click Match Output Aspect.
4. Drag the handles (small boxes) located around the perimeter of the selection area to change the size of the image at the beginning of the event or leave the image full size if you prefer.
5. Click the Begin button.
6. Click the little box between Begin and End to place a check in it.
7. Drag the handles (small boxes) located around the perimeter of the selection area to focus on the desired portion of the image at the end of the event..
8. Click in the middle of the selection area and drag to reposition it.
9. Click the End button.
When you play your project, the event will gradually focus on the area you selected in step 7.
This technique will work on either stills or moving video
