panasonic dv 953 stills

I know a some of you fellow vegas users own this cam also. I cannot get Vegas (or any other program on my computer) to recognize stills captured to the SD card in my panasonic DV 953 cam. When I click on the Jpeg file to open it or import it into vegas I get an error that says something to the effect of "this jpeg is not recognized as valid", yet I can scroll through the photos using the cam and view them just fine.
Any suggestions?

I can view and place photoshots from the DV953's SD card into Vegas. However, I transfer the JPEGs from SD card to my PC first. I have not tried to view them with the cam hooked up via USB. Also, having problems with the Panasonic USB driver is common. I use a CF card multi-reader rather than the cam.
