PAR bug in Vegas 4

I've gotten this to work repeatedly and I'm almost to the point of pulling my hair out >:(

The setup: I'm trying to do a side-by-side comparison of NTSC DV footage, and accordingly have created a .veg with the properties set with frame dimensions of 1440x480. PAR is still set at .909. I'm rendering out using Huffyuv.

I check and recheck the render settings -- frame dimension 1440x480, PAR .909. Only every time I render the footage, Vegas sees it as PAR 1.0, and so any subsequent changes to the footage have a stretched look with black bars on top and bottom.

I've tried checking the "stretch frame to fill - no letterbox" at the render stage, but it does nothing to remedy the issue -- PAR still comes out at 1.0

I can take the 1.0 footage into Vegas, righ-click the properties, and change PAR back to .909 and it looks to remedy the issue where the preview window is concerned, though once again at render time, PAR gets shifted back to 1.0

Incidentally, I'm rendering these frames as progressive scan, and the source footage is progressive as well. Not sure if that means anything (it shouldn't), but just in case...
