OK, for those who don't use the Creative Cow PI forum, as an FYI here is the above mentioned posting to Alan Lorence (the developer who invented PI and now heads its division at GenArts) and his recent yesterday.

If you have PI you can change the particle save the emitter and open saved emitter in the PI plug in Vegas but you will still be limited as to
the particle characteristics manipulation that includes sequenced emitters as well as using an alpha channel as particle emitter channel as well as any particle influences like blockers, etc
None the less this will still give you the advantage of using particles in a les dynamic functionable situation in Sony Vegas
If you have PI you can save the particle in PI and open the particle in Vegas with the function that OFX will allow
What we really need is PI as a full function ap inside Sony Vegas as we have with Boris RED 04.
Red 05 is as nifty as a space shuttle = looks cool but is liable to crash and cost you time = money
Personally I would like to thank GENARTS this is an awesome contribution to my production and creative style and look forward to any advancements.
If you stop for a moment and consider the advantages this ap gives you inside Sony Vegas with Vegas compositing abilities = awesome.
From the above, am I correct in assuming that it is not possible to change the text used in the Logo emitters with just the Vegas OFX version? If so, apart from advertising, why are they included in the offered emitters?
As far as I can determine you cannot change the particle from PI Vegas plug.
But what is cool is that the parameters will be kept from PI saved particle library when the particle is imported into Vegas the parameter keys will be
In Vegas as normal Vegas keys that we are used to CHECK END FOR VISUAL.
Thanks Rory, nice animation.
It would be great if they would include PI as a standalone app along with PI for Vegas, otherwise, I don't think I would have much use for it.
The animation you pulled out is more in line with what I would like to accomplish with PI.
Additional response from Alan Lorence at Creative Cow PI forum on another user's question on what versions of Vegas this plugin will work with.

I've followed up on his response with the following and will keep you informed according to what unfolds from it.
P.S. to Alan:
1. I hope you don't mind that I have copied over your two responses in this thread to the Sony thread about this new Vegas PI plugin. It seems appropriate since it is the official Vegas forum. I'm just trying to keep fellow Veggies up-to-date.
2. Perhaps I jumped to a pessimistic conclusion in my previous post whereby I deleted my download of the plugin since you said that only v.11 of Vegas is supported -- I had spaced out that you mentioned that it worked "for the most part" * in v.10. I'll re-download and try it out on v.10e and see what happens.
* Not sure what "for the most part" means so those of us with v.10 will find out. That said it would be nice if could clarify that statement so that we could be ready for whatever error messages or glitches would or could arise.
I have PI for Vegas. It works well, but has some limitations vs the standalone. I would get the standalone as well if they offered a discount/upgrade price. Not knocking it overall though, great software with a lot of creative possibilities.
