Particle Only Likes Uncomped AVI!

Okay dokey! It might have been said before, but I might as well restate it again: PArticle Illusion needs to have at least uncompressed AVI to work. It may very well do other flavours of AVI but those I've captured into my projects set at PAL-DV don't get a look in in PI - okay? - I've had to reintroduce previously V4 PAL-DV captured clips onto the T/L and THEN New Track render in uncompressed AVI . . just wasted 4 hours pulling my hair out - arrrgghhh! But I got it going. Got particles flying all over the place! Liverpool hasn't seen this many fireworks since the Queen's Jubille, I bet - AND IN DAYLIGHT too!

Phew . . . .

Hi Grazie! I'm not sure about PAL renders, but under render as, try:

"Uncheck 'Create an open DML (.avi version 2.0) compatible file' in the custom>video page of the .avi render dialog"

This has worked for me in generating brief renders of clips I wish to animate via PI or C3D, or others (as I understand from some previous posts). You can do a search for Create Open DML and see some interesting posts.

Grazie, I frameserve to PI, then when I'm done using the background I get rid of it and render to alpha channel TGA sequence. You might wanna try that too.

HappyFriar,

How does one frameserve to PI?

Are you saying you have your video playing in the background of PI while your editing your particles?

Thanks,

David

I use Satish's frameserver plugin (www.degubmode.com). It's slower then if I render out to AVI, but then I don't need to take the time to render.
