pasting between 2 Vegas instances crashes the pastee

Whenever I copy two or three events, (around 12 seconds long) from one instance of Vegas5 and try to paste them into the timeline of another instance of Vegas5, the second instance (where I am pasting) crashes. Sometimes I get this error message:

Sony Vegas 5.0
Version 5.0d (Build 194)
Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) Read:0x1 1P:0x1
In Module 'vegas50.exe' at Address 0x0 + 0x1
Thread: GUI ID=0x980 Stack=0x12E000-0x13000
.......and on and on and on

Can someone interpret this error message and tell me what's going on? I could type in the rest of the message if it would help (for some reason it will not copy to the clipboard to paste into this message box). Thanks for your help.

I can't interpret anything from that message, but one of the first things to try to do is to reduce the acceleration from your graphics cards. See if that helps. You have enough RAM?

Hi Spot, thanks for your reply.

I have 2 x 512MB DDR RAM 266MHz.

The Hardware Acceleration was set to the max. I have lowered it one notch to test.

The "Enable write combining" is checked. Would you suggest unchecking or leaving it checked?

I hope my horses don't start shedding!! It's still snowing here.
Normally you want write combining on, but there are some configurations where you just can't use it. I had an Nvidia system a couple years back that locked up on all video playback until I disabled write combining.
Good luck!

Per your suggestion I reduced the Hardware Acceleration down one notch from full. I can now paste events between different instances of Vegas with no crashing. Thanks for your prompt help!
