Pasting events in VMS 4 working oddly

Back in MS 3 I would be able to use the selection edit tool to select a number of events on the timeline, with the events spanning a number of tracks. I could then copy them and paste them, and the events would be copied to the timeline, and all events would be spread across the same tracks as in the original.

In VMS 4, when I do the paste the events are all pushed down onto the same track, which is not good since all layering, etc. is lost.

Is there some new option in VMS 4 that is making this happen? Is there something I changed in MS 3 that I've since forgotten about?

Thanks...

If it's a new option, I can't find it! I'm seeing exactly the same thing - MS4 doesn't paste video correctly.

I've not yet upgraded, but intend to to so. Hope those having problems are getting them registered with Sony's tech support so they can get them fixed.

OK, I started to write a post asking a couple people to try this to confirm or deny, went into the product to retry it, and I found out something interesting. Can someone out there confirm that they're seeing the same thing?

There appears to be a change in behavior in version 4. The pasting behavior is different according to how you select your paste location. To see this, do a select of multiple events, with the events layered one on top of another.

(1) Move the cursor to an empty place on the timeline. WHEN YOU CLICK TO MOVE THE CURSOR, CLICK ON ONE OF THE 3 ==VIDEO== TRACKS. Do a paste. You should see the events collapsed onto each other on a single track, the track that you clicked on to move the cursor.

(2) Move the cursor to another empty place on the timeline. WHEN YOU CLICK TO MOVE THE CURSOR, CLICK ON ONE OF THE 3 ==AUDIO== TRACKS. Do a paster. You should see the events maintain their original placement on the separate tracks.

I suppose you could argue that it is a feature to be able to paste all to one track, but I can't imagine a case where you'd really want to do this. Maybe one of you lucky Vegas users can think of a reason?

In any case, this is certainly doable, just have to remember to be more particular about clicking.

Good spot! It does exactly the same for me too!

Same behaviour here, except the Audio pasted on the Audio track I clicked on.!
