Pause button not working with DVD/VCR player

When I create a DVD and play it in my Zenith DVD/VCR player all of the remote buttons work except the pause button. However the when I play the same DVD in a stand alone DVD player the pause button works normally.

I tested a retail DVD and the pause button works in the DVD/VCR combo so I know it's not the equipment. Does anyone have any ideas?

Well, not all DVD players can read home-burned DVDs with equal skill, burchis. Though it seems strange that the problem would be isolated to one function. On the other hand, it's pretty unlikely that it's related to the software that was used to create the disc.

The best ways to ensure as good as quality disc as possible are:
1) Buy a good brand disc. Stay away from Memorex. Stick with Verbatim as much as possible.
2) Never burn your DVD at faster than 4x, even if it's rated higher.

As I say in my book, that doesn't guarantee every disc will work on every player every time -- but it will increase the odds of success.
