Is there anyway to do a pause in the middle of the Credit roll???
I want to pause each set of text for like 2 seconds before continuing onto the next set of text...
I don't know of an easy way to do it (at least not in MS) but here's one way.
Create your text just using still text in the middle of the screen and then duplicate this clip, pasting the copy just to the right of the original.
Now open the original using the FX button and, using Pan/Crop, set the text up to start off the top of the screen and end in the center -- so that it matches the next clip.
And, if you want it to roll off the bottom after it pauses, you just copy the still text clip again, past it to the right and, using FX Pan/Crop start it in the center of the screen and end it rolling off screen at the bottom.
I know that may not accomplish exactly what you want, but it should give you a roll in from the top, then pause, then roll off the bottom.
Funny, but I just had the same thing come up. Here's what I did. Basically the same idea as doing a "stop-motion" effect in general.
Fill in all your stuff in the credit roll effect. Now, at the points where you want to do the pause, stop the cursor, optionally use a marker to mark the spot, then grab a snapshot of the frame using the snapshot capture utility (the disk icon down in the preview window.)
As usual, make sure to set the preview to best quality and project size, plus save to .png to have the best quality snapshot. The snapshot should go in your media pool, and of course save to your hard drive. Now, go back to that exact spot on the timeline (that's why you used the marker) and split the event. Separate the split events and add in the still that you just made. True up the split events to the front and back of the still and voila, it should work.
You can use the option to set your still duration to 2 seconds so that every time you drag on the still it will be the right length. You also might notice a slight hiccup at the end of the still and the beginning of the motion, and you should be able to get rid of this by trimming a frame or two off the beginning of the event to the right of the still. Another thing you'll notice you'll have to do is to put in a few blank lines before and after the section of credits that you'll be capturing to a still... that way text from other sections of the credits don't show up in your still.
The advantage of doing this is that formatting a credit roll in the special credit roll interface is a heck of a lot easier than doing so in a regular text event. Specifically, mixing fonts and font sizes can be clunky in a regular text event.
Of course if you change the text at all you'll need to redo the credit roll event AND recapture the still, but that's not the end of the world.
Have you tried the timed credit rolls? They display text, pause, then move onto the next item, pause, etc. I do not believe you can adjust the timing, but I have never personally used the effect, so I really cannot be sure on its functionality.
