PC Lockup During Capture

During capture from miniDV Sony Camcorder with firewire hook up, the PC locks up and the audio skips over and over. I am confident that it is not a full out Vegas5 problem but more of a conflict somewhere.

This only happens when the preview is ON. I have only tried it with scene selection ON.

Vegas5, XP Pro, 1g ram, p4 3.2HT, ATI9600Pro.

It could be your graphics card can't manage, could be your graphics card is sharing a resource with the 1394 card, could be sound card is sharing resource with graphics or 1394 card or heaven forbid, both.
if you can capture with the preview off, I'd be looking to change location of some cards in your box or working with resource management.
Try reducing graphics acceleration.
Try Enditall
Try moving 1394 card elsewhere in your system.
Try moving sound card elsewhere in the system.

Spot? I just realized that my firewire connection is through my Audigy2ZS. I don't have a standalone 1394 card. This could for sure be the problem huh?

Thanks

In the FAQ section at VASST, there is a long FAQ on dropped frames. This may also apply to your case. Here's the link:
