.PCA Workflow

So, Perfect Clarity Audio is great first off. I am trying to use it as much as I can, but I run into some problems along the way...

The first would be a feature request I suppose. Why can't I extract audio from a cd directly to pca?

Thing two is my current problem. I have a project already and decided there was no need for it to be in wav format anymore. So, I use Batch Converter to get my pca files. However, vegas doesn't automatically recognize the replacment files which seems odd. Anybody have any thoughts on a way to do this other than one by one? Maybe a script?

Thanks,

J

Also, when you choose to save media with the veg file, it would be a nice option to pick which format the audio files are in, be it wav, pca, mp3 etc.

MP3 - you're joking, right ?

Wav, PCA, W64 maybe ...

MP3 - off the top of my head, wav pca and mp3 yes. Not saying I'd use it as an archive or production format for 'proper' work, though I do soundcheck with wma files at work. I have archived a couple of long dead projects that were taking up space and would never be touched again in MP3 a while ago.

128kbit for speech ain't that bad you know.... don't be such a snob! ;-)

Just to revisit this topic here, I am currently working on a project between 3 "studios". I have used the save and trim option to cut down the files. I then convert to mp3 (these are just for timing to the players) and have to one by one tell vegas where to look for the new mp3 (incidentally, 48 files). Why mp3s? Welcome to the age of internet collaboration. Great that I can get this far of course, but having options in save and trim would be phenominal for this type of thing. Obviously mp3 is far from acceptable for any finsihed product, but for a bass player who needs to play to drum tracks it's just fine. So, he gets mp3s of drums and sends back .pca all online.

What a wonderful world it could be eh?
