Peculiar indicators on camcorder screen when printing to tape with Video Capture

Using VideoFactory/VideoCapture for the first time. Captured DV from camcorder and created several
1 min edited video segments with VF - many nice software features - happy with results.

HOWEVER, I went back to VideoCapture to print the .avi file I created to tape, and there is a peculiar
set of marks on the lower left corner of the camcorder LCD screen ... looks like this:

__.__.__
__.__

as if some kind of time counter should be displayed there. I'm using a Sony TRV320 camcorder, and
this indicator doesn't appear to originate from the camera - there is nothing I can do to get this symbol
or even a counter in this part of the screen with the camera alone. These marks are certainly not
present on .avi file I created. I'm forced to think that it had to come from the VideoCapture software.

How can I get rid of it?

Thanks,

This does look like a date/time stamp- perhaps it is coming
from the camcorder but is just on the LCD screen, not the
tape itself. VidCap does not generate anything that looks
like this-

I thought it might just be an info display overlaid on the LCD screen, but then I recorded from the
camcorder onto a VHS machine, and the same indicator marks were there.

The problem was not in VideoFactory, since it continued while recording even after disconnecting the
computer from the camcorder. However, there is no documentation that mentions these symbols or
anything that should appear on the LCD screen in this position. No combination of buttons on the
camera would alter the symbols.

Solved the problem by removing the power cord, the main battery, AND the small internal battery that
keeps the date timer alive. Essentially rebooted the camera (I've heard of people having to do this to
their cars, too). I don't know what those symbols were, or how they came up on the screen (I *do* think
that VideoFactory may have had something to do with that), but power cycling the camera in this way
got rid of them.

In my Sony manual (for a TRV410E) it states that these bars
appear (when you are using data code function), if:

A blank section of the tape is being played back

or

The tape is unreadable due to tape damage or noise

or

The tape was recorded by a camcorder without the date and
time set
