peg board bass trap??

Hola,
I am going to buy a peg board to hang cables on. I was thinking of a 1x2 frame around the perimeter (on the side against the wall) to hold it away from the wall to accommodate the pegs.
Now I'm wondering if you guys know of a better way that might even help acoustically (ie bass trap?).
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Randy,

Peg board won't make much of a bass trap, though you could possibly put VERY THIN pegboard over rigid fiberglass. In that case it's the fiberglass that absorbs, and using very thin peg board will not impede the absorption too much.

Also, bass traps do the most good in corners and along the front and rear walls. So that's where you should focus.

you can build great bass traps from cardboard concrete forms, which are very inexpensive, along with fiberglass inside.
Drilling lotsa holes, covering cardboard with outdoor textile or better, acousticord.
Similar concept as TubeTraps.

It's a fabric that now is as generic as kleenex. I'll bet your local Home Depot or Lowes has it. Thin, looks like outdoor/indoor carpet. Usually comes in tan, black, and greenish brown. And quite cheep.

You're welcome. I failed to mention it is pad-less, and looks like the garbage green or blue stuff you find as "carpeting" in cheap boats and RV storage areas, except it's got a "cord" woven in it. If you really need, I can take a photo of it in either of our facilities and post it. We're brown in one, grey in the other.
I think it's around 3.50 a yard.
