i am trying to edit a video generated with the Pentax K-7 SLR...it supposedly uses the MJPG codec, but when i load into Vegas the video section shows up red.......any clues??
To use MJPEG AVI streams on Vegas you must install the ffdshow codec pack. I just tried a K-7 file on my Vegas Platinum and it works via he ffdshow decoder.
2. Load ffdshow’s “VfW Configuration” panel from the START Windows menu, click “Codecs”, scroll down to find the MJPEG format, and change it from “disabled” to “libavcodec”. Now Vegas can decode AVI MJPEG files.
3. Open the Project Properties dialog, and use its "match media settings" yellow icon to match the properties to one of these AVI files. Then edit. At the very end of editing, select ALL events in your timeline, right click, and “disable resample”. Then, export at 29.97 fps if the original reported frame rate was 30, or at 23.976 if the original was 24. Leave at 25 if it the original was 25. This will ensure sane, standard-compliant, frame rates.
thanks for your reply....have downloaded FF as per your instructions however when i open up VFW Config......i can neither see a codec tab nor a disabled button.....can you try and point me in the correct area
