Perplexing capture issue

I’ve been capturing and editing with Screenblast for over a year. When I upgraded to Movie Studio 4.0, a small capture problem developed. Screen capture recognizes my Canon DV camcorder and captures into the Video Capture 5.0 program fine. When I go back to MS, my media pool has the clips listed by number, but rather than the opening video clip as the displayed picture, I have only the Windows media player logo displayed for each clip. MS won’t recognize the clips or allow me to move them onto the timeline. When I close MS and reopen the program, the clips are properly displayed and I can proceed to edit with no problems. Any ideas as to why the capture problem has popped up? I’ve checked for similar problems on the Forum but haven’t come across a solution; I haven’t seen anything obvious in my preferences that would appear to be the cause. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have an answer for you , but I experienced exactely the same thing on my last project.
I believe it my have something to do with how you go about capturing, because it did not happen to me previously, even with the new version. I have not yet had time to experiment.

I had the same issue. I think this is a result of the following setting:

"Close media files when not the active application".

I had this unchecked because of a bug with Studio not correctly puting sound on DVDs with it checked, from this thread
http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=12&MessageID=317952

If I select the above setting then the media pool seems to work correctly again.

I'm just wondering if 4.0a fixes the original problem so that I can leave that setting selected without sound issues on my dvds.
