Philips DVDR985 Recorder

I'm thinking about purchasing the new Philips DVDR985 Recorder and am currently using Vegas Video 2.0h. Does anyone know if it's possible to print directly to the DVD recorder rather than having to go through my digital camcorder first?? If not, can I do it with Vegas Video 3.0? Does anyone know anything about this Philips Recorder vs. other comparable products in the $1000 range?? Please help if you know anything at all.....I'm antsy to buy, but want to make the best choice possible!!!

Brock,

Your DV camcorder is not involved in burning a DVD. If you were making a VHS tape on your VCR, that would be another story.

Brock,

I haven't seen any reviews of the Philips DVDR985, but based on the reviews of the Philips DVDR1000, I would be skeptical. For information on it, see:

Brock,

Vegas Video 3 has several new features. For a comparison table of features, see:

Vegas Video 2.0 vs Vegas Video 3.0

There are lots of benefits from the upgrade, not the least of which is the new DV codec.

YES, PLEASE! Let me know what you think....I'm very curious to find out how it performs with Video Vegas quality wise. Your opinion will be of utmost importance to whether I purchase it or not...

thanks again,
