I didn't see the connection between Photo Gallery and Scenalyzer or know what mm was (Marilyn Monroe?). The nearest thing to Scenalyzer for MPG is HDVSplit, but it only works with HDV, not AVCHD.
I use good old folders based on shooting dates to manage my media, but realise that would be inadequate for many people.
sorry, at my age i write in demented shorthand ;-)
like you, i use folders, but would like the flexibility scenalyzer gave me with dv. i looked at photo gallery but am still not sure whether it would be any use for video management and really don't want to waste my time unless someone here can recommend it.
Have you looked at WhereIsIt?
There is an (unsupported) video file thumbnail plugin available.
There also appears to be an AVI file plugin available that lists codec and other info.
I'm using Photogallery for my visual media. Once you work your way around the options you'll find it surprisingly capable for tagging and searching for visual media. Works with virtually all video clips, Nikon NEF, as well as the other basic files. It does not handle audio files.
It is built on msSQL and is very robust. I have thousands of images/clips categorized. It does background facial recognition on stills. You can tag in a multitude of ways. Drag and drop into Vegas.
I ran into the same issues with the sql update and permission problems using Sony's MM.
