has anyone used the new video templates for use in vegas 5? i created a new ntsc dv image, put a circle in it, and saved it. i brought it into vegas and it stretched just like i created a 720x480 image. maybe these new video templates will only work with premiere, or am i just doing something wrong?

Not quite sure what you mean. The ntsc dv image should be 720x480 I believe. I'm having a lot of "fun" myself" but I blame photoshop for most of that. It's not 1/10 as intuitive as Vegas.
What I don't understand is why the dv template is 720x480 as when you bring it into vegas it does not completely fill up the screen. I know that fine for tv, but if you're using a projector wouldn't you have problems?
Don't mean to hijack, but I hope you figure out what's happening to your image.

Funny....I did the "circle" thing with that Photoshop CS template just the other day and had the same problem. But I know the solution.....

Put the still media you made in Photoshop on the Vegas timeline and right click on it....click properties ...click media....and set your pixel aspect ratio to 0.9091. That might help....if it's still a little skewed....right click on your Vegas preview window and click "Simulate Aspect Device Ratio"...

I'm still not clear on the whole square pixel aspect and non-square aspect yet....so much to learn.

Any luck ?

This is the answer.

Then, when previewed on an external monitor, all looks just like it should.
