Picture and Text: which overlays what?

Matse.P wrote on 3/5/2017, 3:29 AM

Hey guys,

one short question:

I created a video using Magix Vegas Pro 14 and by that, I inserted a JPEG-picture on a video track inside the video project.

After that, I just wanted to ad some text box shown overlayed on this picture. So I inserted a video track above the track with the picture included and inserted the text box to this track because I thought that Vegas would overlay all video tracks from top to bottom when rendering the final result.

But what should I say ... The text box does not appear. Not in preview nor in the final rendered result. It doesn't matter in which direction the two elementes are put in. Text in first video track, picture in second or picture in first, text in second, the result is still the same. No text inside the picture.

What did I do wrong? Has it something to do with dominance or what? How could I display the text box on my JPEG-picture?

Thanx a lot and greetz,

Matthias

Are you sure that the text track isn't muted? A screenshot of your problem would help.

Is this what you want?

Hey you two,

thanx for your answers.

1. No, no track is muted, both of them activated ...

2. Yes, this is exactly what I want. Maybe without any shadow or text frame but in principle exactly this ... How can I achieve this?

Greetz,

Matthias

Unless something is wrong, it is simple to do, add image add bottom track and add text media generator on above track.

Please post the screenshot of your timeline.

Hello guys,

OK, here's my story ...

Six video tracks, five audio tracks, none muted or disabled and filled with content by that priority overlay that I wanted it to give ...

See the inserted JPEG picture now, especially in the preview, everything's fine:

Now I inserted a text box on that video track on top of that with the picture included and set the text to white text colour. As you can see in the preview, the white text is seen inside the picture and seemed to be correctly overlayed:

But if I change the text colour to a dark red to make it better visible on the shiny picture background the text seemed to disappear, as if it isn't correctly overlayed to the picture yet. Have a look:

It seemed, the text box lies background to the picture but it is on the track above. So why? Can anybody explain this and give me a solution for this?

Thanx,

Matthias

Under "Options/Preferences/Video" check if you have GPU-support enabled. If so, disable, restart Vegas Pro and try again. Does disabling GPU-support help?

Make sure the blending mode for title track is Source Alpha and opacity is 100%.

Matse.P wrote on 3/5/2017, 10:21 AM

Hey Jam_One,

thanx a lot for your answer, that was exactly what was going wrong. I don't know how but the blending mode of this special video track was not set to Source Alpha. Opacity was always 100% but the blending mode was wrong. I really don't know how this could have been happen but that does not mean a thing. Changed it to Source Alpha and everything was fine and as I wanted it.

Thanx a lot and greetz,

Matthias
