It is apparent to me that the PEP&C (see above) is subjected to the RESOLUTION size of the photos. Meaning that the space see in screen is limited if the resolution of the picture size is large, (ie. 1200 ect rather than something like 700)

Is there a way to adjust that? I like to use HIGH REZ on the pictures I place into the timeline, merely because of the sharpness and clarity, as well as the lack of pixelating issues that go with smaller resolution files.

I am not sure what you mean, Vegas is resolution independent, meaning it will work with the native resolution of the source material. If you use HI REZ photos, you can zoom and pan all you want and retain quality and clarity.

They will default to fill the frame, but you can zoom in where you want.

Since DV resolution is 720x480, the ideal resolution of any photos you use (assuming you don't pan/zoom) is 720x480.

Using a very high res photo like you mention does not improve the quality. In fact, it may hurt because Vegas will downsize the resolution of, say, 1.4Mx1.4M to 720.x480 which can actually introduce some nasty artifacts.

You don't say what your target output is. If you're not trying to match a standard definition TV signal, go ahead and change your project properties to a higher resolution. You can create videos with frame sizes up to 2048x2048. Expect HUGE files though, and difficulties getting them to play smoothly, or play at all on some hardware. You'll probably be stuck playing them back on your computer only. HD may be a good compromise for you at 1920x1080 resolution. HD players are just starting to become popular.

If you're trying to make a DVD or videotape for your final output then you're stuck with a resolution of 655x480 for NTSC or 720x576 for PAL.
