Picture in Picture graphical error?

sketchbored wrote on 5/14/2024, 11:39 PM

First time poster here (made an account just for this issue), I have a certain issue regarding the Picture in Picture VFX that I can't seem to figure out exactly how to fix, nor does anyone know how to do so that I've talked to or look up online. This is my first time using the effect, and whenever I apply it by default to anything, it puts this half edge border around it that I can't seem to get rid of.

For reference I am using VEGAS Pro 19 (Build 651)

Specs:
OS:
Windows 11 Pro 64-Bit
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-Core Processor
RAM: Dual 32GB DDR4 G.Skill
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
MOBA: ASUS TeK COMPUTER INC. TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) (AM4)

I hope this is helpful! I would love to use this effect, but this is really bugging me. Below is what the effect looks like, and then the default settings (not sure if that 2nd picture is helpful if its just the default settings but it doesn't hurt not to)

Could you share a screenshot of the entire VEGAS window?

What kind of media is this? A picture with alpha?

@sketchbored Hi,

First thing check your picture, zoom right in in either the Pan/Crop window or in a photo editor & check there isn't a single line of pixels around the edge, I've done that trying to work out what's wrong only to find it's actually on the picture itself.

Try a different picture & see if you get the same black line, if not you can then compare to see what is the difference with the two pictures,

As @RogerS says if it's a pic with alpha (transparent background) right click the picture - Properties - Media - check what the Alpha channel is, Straight or Premultiplied,

Are there any other effects added?

Does changing the preview option at the top of the Preview window make any difference ie. Good (Full) Good (Half) etc.

-----------

PS. slightly curious as to why your Scale X & Scale Y are both active, with the Fixed shape both are Ganged together so Scale Y should be greyed out like this -

Also both your X & Y sliders are to the far left, the counter reads 0.500 which should put the sliders in the middle like in my pic

@sketchbored Sorry just realised your using VP19, I get the same as your pic with the sliders in VP19, my pic earlier is from VP21 so I guess they changed something,

No black line around the edge though with either a transparent PNG or a JPG

Try switching off GPU acceleration

I did this and it immediately worked! Thank you!

Turning off the GPU will kill performance but glad it helps as a workaround. What AMD driver version are you using? Does a new one make a difference?
